Once a midwife has achieved her endorsement for scheduled medicines, they then can apply for a Medicare provider number.
Midwives with an endorsement for scheduled medicines are also eligible to purchase an insurance package through MIGA (see www.miga.com.au ).
Women who are eligible for Medicare benefits and obtain care from a midwife with a Medicare provider number, working partly or entirely in private practice, will be able to get a Medicare rebate for the care they receive.
